Self-support protocol
Agoraphobia protocol stabilizing safety perception teams. Reduce avoidance through gradual exposure coordination.
Attention, urban planners of the inner city! In agoraphobia, large parts of the map are marked "danger": stations, squares, queues, malls. Only a few "safe streets" remain. Our mission is to gradually reopen routes so the city of life does not shrink to one block.
Draw a detailed fear map
Build micro-routes
Decommission some safety rituals
Monitor structural fatigue
Агорафобия превращает город в лабиринт запретов. При аккуратном перепроектировании маршрутов и пошаговой экспозиции карта снова наполняется доступными местами, а не только зонами опасности.
Agoraphobia develops when the brain's fear circuitry becomes conditioned to associate certain situations (open spaces, crowds, public transportation, being outside home) with intense anxiety or panic. The amygdala triggers powerful threat responses in situations where escape feels difficult or help unavailable. This often follows panic attacks in these settings, creating strong fear conditioning. The hippocampus encodes contextual fear memories, and the prefrontal cortex's ability to rationally assess safety becomes overridden by emotional fear responses. Avoidance provides immediate relief (negative reinforcement), strengthening the neural pathways that generate fear in these situations. Over time, the safe zone shrinks as more situations become associated with threat. The HPA axis becomes sensitized, producing stress responses to anticipation of leaving safe spaces. The "organism as a team" framework helps by understanding that your team developed these fear responses to protect you, but the protection system has become overly restrictive. Your amygdala is trying to keep you safe, but its boundaries are too narrow. Gradual, supported exposure helps retrain your team's safety assessment, expanding the zone where your nervous system feels secure. Compassionate self-talk, breathing techniques, and professional support enable systematic recalibration of your internal security system. ⚕️ This protocol does not replace professional consultation.
